Troubleshooting

Confirm the file is a valid .djvu document. Damaged or partially downloaded files may fail to open - try downloading the file again, or open it on the device that created it to confirm it is intact.

The document probably has no text layer. Run text recognition, then search again. If recognition finds little text, the scan quality may be too low for reliable OCR.

Recognition processes every page on your Mac, so large documents take time. The result is cached, so it only happens once per document. You can choose View > Stop Text Recognition to stop early; pages already recognized stay searchable.

Choose a lighter Quality preset when you export to PDF. Compact produces the smallest files; High balances size and quality. Turning on Enable OCR also adds to the file size and export time.

Reopen the Finder window, or restart Finder from the Force Quit dialog ( Esc), and try again.

Email [email protected] with a description of the problem and we will help.
