## Find text

1. Choose **Edit > Find** or press `⌘` `F`.
2. Type your search term. Matches are highlighted on the page.
3. Move between matches with the shortcuts below.

| Action | Shortcut |
| --- | --- |
| Find | `⌘` `F` |
| Find Next | `⌘` `G` |
| Find Previous | `⌘` `⇧` `G` |
| Use Selection for Find | `⌘` `E` |

Search ignores case and accents, so searching for `cafe` also finds `Cafe` and
`cafe` with an accent.

## Search results in the sidebar

While a search is active, the thumbnail sidebar lists the results instead:
every page with a hit, and how many matches it has. Click one to jump
straight to it.

A bar above the page shows the total number of matches, steps between them,
and sorts the list by **Search Rank** (best matches first) or **Page Order**.
Click **Done** to leave search and bring the thumbnails back.

## Select and copy text

Drag across the page to select text, then copy it with `⌘` `C`.
**Use Selection for Find** (`⌘` `E`) starts a new search from
whatever text you have selected.

## When search finds nothing

A DjVu page can display readable words without containing searchable text. Search needs embedded text or an OCR result. No matches can also mean recognition errors, a different spelling, or an incomplete text layer.

1. Open the file in [Niraqua DjVu](https://niraqua.com/djvu/) and try to select a word.
2. Search for a short, clearly printed word. Try another page and check the spelling.
3. If the page has no usable text, run text recognition.
